This week I am looking at the Social Studies Grade 9 curriculum in BC. Content-wise students are expected to know about revolutions (political, social, economic, and technological revolutions), the ongoing effects of imperialism and colonialism on indigenous peoples in Canada and around the world, global demographic shifts, nationalism and the development of modern nation-states, conflicts, historical wrongs, and Canada’s physiography, and geology.
I started a mind map to visualize what topics I want to focus on in particular. This mind map is a work in progress.
