Last week we had the honor to welcome Jeff Hopkins into our classroom. He is the founder of the Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry in Victoria, BC. The school opened its doors in 2013.
The school supports a transdisciplinary approach and does not have traditional classes in which children of a certain age group are present. Students go to their classroom of interest.

PSII core values include: open inquiry, consilience, co-construction, emergent curriculum, learning happens everywhere, learning vs. learning about, and competency-based assessment.
In his Ted talk from 2014, Jeff advocates for an educational shift in which knowing about something becomes more significant than knowing something. He comes up with an example of internalizing knowledge rather than just knowing facts.
